Hurricane Isaias damage? Protect your insurance claim now.
Hurricane Isaias put the entire Pensacola coast under a Hurricane Warning and Storm Surge Warning in October 2026. If your home, condo or business was damaged, the first weeks after the storm decide how strong your claim will be. Here's what to do — and where to get free help if the insurer pushes back.
Isaias claim review
Free and confidential — before or after you file.
Safety first
Do not return to evacuated areas until officials allow it. Stay out of floodwater, avoid downed lines, and run generators outdoors only. Check shelters, roads & outages and the live tracker.
Your Hurricane Isaias claim checklist
- Photograph and video everything before cleanup — roof (from the ground or a drone), every room, water lines on walls, damaged contents with labels and serial numbers, fallen trees, fences, screen enclosures. Use our free damage log.
- Prevent further damage. Tarp the roof, board openings, remove wet carpet and drywall, run fans and dehumidifiers. Keep every receipt — reasonable emergency repairs are part of the claim.
- Report the claim promptly to your homeowners or wind insurer (and separately to your flood insurer if water came in from outside). Write down the claim number and every adjuster's name.
- Keep damaged materials (a section of carpet, shingles, ruined appliances) until the adjuster has seen them, or photograph them thoroughly before disposal.
- Be careful with recorded statements. Stick to facts you know. Don't guess about the age of the roof or prior damage.
- Ask for the adjuster's estimate in writing and compare it with a licensed contractor's estimate.
- Don't sign a contractor's assignment of benefits or a “full and final” release without understanding it.
Isaias claim deadlines
To report a new hurricane claim, measured from the date of loss — for Isaias, roughly October 2027.
To file a supplemental or reopened claim for additional damage — roughly April 2028.
General rules under current Florida law; your exact dates depend on the date of loss and your policy. Report as early as possible — delays give insurers a reason to dispute damage.
Disputes we expect after Isaias
- Wind vs. storm surge on Pensacola Beach, Perdido Key, Gulf Breeze, Navarre and bayfront homes, where insurers may attribute everything to excluded flood.
- Roof claims denied as wear and tear, or paid as small repairs instead of the replacement Florida's 25% rule and matching may require.
- Interior water damage from wind-driven rain and roof openings, often blamed on long-term leaks.
- Hurricane deductible math — estimates that land just under a 2% or 5% deductible. Check yours.
If your Isaias claim is denied, delayed or underpaid, The Lawgical Firm will review it free of charge, with no upfront fees and no attorney fee unless there is a recovery.
